Lanna Rugby Club 5 year Anniversary

To mark Lanna Rugby Club’s 5 year anniversary we are saying goodbye to the old website and hello to the new. 

We can’t believe it’s been 5 years since the incarnation of the club. There’s been highs and lows, struggles and stresses to deal with however we are here and growing each week. 

The first team to set up was the men’s team to begin the fight for regular rugby in the north of Thailand. 

As the months turned into years. The original ground at Lamphun Technical college which was a great place, just far from Chiang Mai. The powers that be changed the ground to where we reside today at Kanta Anusorn School.

As the club has grown, one mantra which has become more and more prevalent as time has moved along is that we are a family club. We care for our players and in turn they have cared for the club. Parent and players have come forwards to take various responsibilities off Tom’s hands, who is the original founder of the club. 

Now Lanna Rugby Club boasts not only a men’s team after 5 years, but a women’s team fondly known as the Lanna Lionesses. 

Every Saturday there is grassroots rugby too. LRC Tots, LRC Cubs, LRC Juniors and LRC Academy. It has been a wonder to see the children of Chiang Mai take to rugby so readily. After only 4 months, a bunch of rebel kids have turned into four distinguished rugby teams. 

A lot has changed since our humble origins. We at the club cannot wait to see what else is in store.  

Congratulations Lanna Rugby Club for making it to this epic mile stone. The fifth year is well and truly on the way and going strong.
