When Lanna Rugby Club Went To CM10s

After the storm that had been going on during the week it was incredibly to find it to be such a sunny day when Lanna Rugby Club arrived at the CM10s competition ground.

The organisers had arranged for some shade thankfully so the club quickly set their station, got suited and booted and headed out to warm up.

Time for the first match of the day, Lionesses Vs Bangkok Belles

The Lionesses came flying in with their first ever win this weekend against a well drilled Bangkok Women’s Rugby – Banger Belles.

All the Lionesses dug deep and put in a massive effort. 4 months ago the Lionesses was made up of about 2 players, however now they are a side to be reckoned with!

Time For the Lions to have a go, Lions Vs Chinag Mai All Stars

The Lions started strong. The Lions looked organized, made some great runs and put in some huge tackles. Alas, they just missed out to a win against their oldest rivals Chiang Mai All Stars.

Throught the day the Lions and Lionesses played a few more matches. The Lionesses went down to a formidable Southerners team. The Lions too were on the back end of a couple of losses. Both teams put in a great effort. Sometimes the score line doesn’t always reflect the efforts of the match.

Sunday began with a positive Start, Lions Vs Colombo Synergy

The Lions fought hard. Eventually the Lions over came and won their first match under the leadership of Coach Matt against the Colombo Synergy All Stars from Sri Lanka. Alas, it was not enough and Lions ended dead last of the comp!

The Lionesses played one more match, put it all out there on the pitch. We may have not come away with any silver this year, but we definitely turned up and showed them competitors what Lanna Rugby Club is all about.

Everyone at Lanna Rugby Club fully enjoyed playing against, sharing experiences with and making new relationships with all the travelling teams. Over the weekend Nong played out of his skin. For every match he played in, he was played out of position, however that didn’t stop him from putting on a fantastic display of rugby.

He is always great to have around the team with his positive outlook and never say die attitude.

Jo smashed her tackles, dominated her kicks, and distracted the other team with her dance moves!
