Maejo Rugby Club

Finally Lions Vs Maejo was upon us. After a week of recover the Lions were back in action today against a well drilled Maejo side. Even though it was a sad occasion, as this may be the very last time we get to play Maejo Rugby Club, the Lions weren’t going to go easy on them.

Josh, the illustrious leader that he is, brought a strong side to the Lions Den, in San Kamphaeng. The regulars were in and about the squad who can cause havok on the day.

Coach Hirsty rallied the troops and they were off. The Lions played a well organized game. With the ball in hand the players put the exercises to work in the game, enabling for some strong support running which inevitably helped us to win the game.

The defence was a little rusty at times, however the team managed to fix these errors, playing in better formation.
The Lions even gave a first timer to rugby, Chin, a run out to get a taster of rugby! A solid effort for a first go!

Brave, Nong and Luis who made the front row played with so much desire, hungry to win the ball in the breakdowns.

Smithy and Tom at 2nd, made the hard yards, breaking the line at times for Dtun, Phil and Carlos to take a run.
Phil took charge at 9, which has quickly becoming his position of choice.

Dtun made some fantastic crunching try saving tackles as well as pulling off a couple of runs as well as his new chip and try trick, which he showed off today as well as last week in BKK.

Carlos and Pan Put in a solid effort, domineering their positions. Getting on the end of loop balls and covering their space well in defence.

The Lions pulled of a great win against a fantastic team, couldn’t be prouder, in this Lions Vs Maejo encounter.

Lanna Rugby Club would like to give an ENORMOUS thank you to Maejo Rugby Club and their leader in to battle Josh. You have played incredibly, for years, a strong set of players who know how to manipulate plays and defend their try line like warriors. Thank you for the opportunity to play against you one more.
