In October 2023 the Lanna Lionesses had a trip over to Vietnam to join The Viet Chiang Barbarians to play 15s rugby.
After the inception of the Viet Chiang Barbarians that was formed initially by Lanna Rugby Club, Hanoi Dragons Rugby and Saigon Rugby Club earlier this year, The Viet Chiang came back with a bang playing in a fiery 15s match against the Bangkok Women’s Rugby – Banger Belles and Vietnam Warriors.
From the Lanna Lionesses, Maddie, Jo, Grave and Fliss got their skates on and headed for Hanoi. They were welcomed with open arms and were apart of a fantastic celebration of rugby throughout the weekend. Women’s rugby is on the up in South East Asia and the Lanna Lionesses are helping pave the way along side the Hanoi Dragons, Saigon Gekos, Bangkok Southerners and Bangkok Belles.
It was a a great moment for rugby as and Lanna Rugby Club cannot wait to see what is around the corner.
