LIONESSES 0 - 24 TNSU
Finally as the new season begins the Lionesses kick start their 2024/25 campaign! After months of preseason, the Lionesses were readying themselves for their first competitive match of the year on the 17th August.
Women team managers/coaches Maddie Barry and Vienna Groark had been hard at work preparing the Lanna Lionesses through preseason, recruiting and putting the players through their paces for another exciting year of rugby.
Rugby is becoming more of a staple in the Chiang Mai calendar, that being said, the women’s teams this season shall too be playing more regular competitive matches.
Lanna Lionesses were faced against the TNSU women’s team who have been strong adversaries in past match ups, today was no different.
The Lionesses put in a huge effort; organised in set pieces and put on a strong defensive front, however, the experience in the TNSU side won out, running 4 tries and 2 conversions past the newly formed Lanna Lionesses squad.
This was a great match to show coaches Vienna and Maddie where the squad is at and how they can build on their performance in preparation for the CNX 7s which Lanna Rugby Club shall be hosting in September.
