Lanna Cubs Play in the Chiang Mai Youth 7s League Debut

Finally, the time has come for the Lanna Cubs to play in the Chiang Mai Youth 7s League Debut which is sponsored by Amora Hotel and Dimbulla estate.

Throughout the last 4 years Lanna Rugby Club have been working on developing a strong grassroots base for the club to springboard off. Now the club boasts a plethora of teams at various age grades that can compete nationally. 

Prince Royal’s College (PRC) for a few decades were the only place that developed kids rugby, however, in the last two years more schools in the north of Thailand have shown a growing interest in wanting to compete at this sport. 

On the 17th August four of Lanna’s youth teams took to the pitch to play in some gruelling, intense rugby matches at our home base, Varee International School, to kick start this brand new 7’s league which has been developed with Thialand Rugby Union alongside Lanna Rugby Club and the CNX 11s league promoters in the hopes that this will develop some future Thailand rugby stars! 

All the boys and girls who came to play had a great time competing and making new friends. The club cannot wait to see how the youth players will grow from the regular match experience. 

All the teams played with desire and passion, however the U16 girls team managed to pull off an emphatic victory against RPK 30, great work girls!
